The Massachusetts Good Neighbor Energy Fund A cooperative effort between sponsoring Massachusetts energy companies, The Salvation Army and caring neighbors throughout the Commonwealth, The Massachusetts Good Neighbor Energy Fund has provided energy assistance to hundreds of thousands of residents in temporary crisis who are struggling to pay their energy bills and do not qualify for federal or state energy funds. In fact, it has assisted nearly 69,000 families with a month’s energy expense since its inception in 1985.
Citizens Energy Corporation exists to help make life’s basic needs more accessible and affordable for the poor and needy. Beginning in 1979 with oil-trading ventures in Latin America and Africa, Citizens Energy has used revenues from commercial enterprises to channel millions of dollars into charitable programs in the U.S. and abroad. Its initiatives have helped heat the homes of the elderly and the poor and lower the cost of prescription drugs for millions of Americans.
Massachusetts Division of Energy Resources (DOER)
An agency of the Massachusetts State government, DOER is charged with the responsibility of “creating a greener energy future for the Commonwealth both economically and environmentally”. The specifics include achieving cost-effective energy efficiencies, maximizing development of greener energy resources, creating and leading implementation of energy strategies to assure reliable supplies and improve relative cost and supporting clean tech companies and spurring clean energy employment.
MassSAVE is a public/private partnership that was created to help Massachusetts residents save money through energy conversation. Formerly known as the Massachusetts Residential Conservation Services Program, it was founded in 1980. Today it provides energy information and services to all Massachusetts residential energy users.

Myenergystar.com was created by the Northeast ENERGY STAR® Lighting and Appliance Initiative as a resource to help New Englanders save energy and money in their homes through the use of ENERGY STAR qualified products and more energy efficient behaviors. The site contains information on discounted lighting products, energy savings tips and links to information about instant coupons and mail-in rebates on ENERGY STAR qualified compact fluorescent light bulbs, lighting fixtures, clothes washers, refrigerators, room air conditioners and dehumidifiers.
