How do I know if we qualify?
Each of the programs under the Energy Bucks umbrella has slightly different eligibility requirements, all of them based on your income level. Elsewhere on this site, we’ve provided general qualification guidelines. Your local CAP will help you determine whether you meet the requirements of the particular programs.

What will I need to show as proof of qualification? You will need to provide substantiation of your income level. In most cases, paycheck stubs and/or your most recent income tax statement will suffice.

Is there a lot of paperwork to fill out? There is some, yes. But again, people at your local CAP will walk you through it step by step.

What makes the Massachusetts Energy Bucks program so unique? Lots of states offer fuel assistance support to lower income residents. What makes Energy Bucks special is the added benefit of free energy efficiency services and discount electric and gas rates, as well as the level of cooperation among the participating state agencies, CAPs and utility companies. In these ways,
the Massachusetts program is a model for other states.
